New Job!

The new job has been so great so far. I get to work from home 3 times a week, and I spent most of my first week drawing dragons. I didn't know a job could be like that! It feels so good to do something creative and be taken seriously for it. I've been getting into podcasts on my commute, too, and added a page to my media log. I gotta update my movies page with some really good ones I've seen lately - The Odyssey, Obsession, & The Invite - all hits! I've also been rewatching Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt which I've been enjoying. Titus is lowkey on the kin list. Maybe that should be the last tab on my site! It's been empty so long, I've been trying to think of something fun to put there. But I also want to make a page about "intricate analog pilgrim", a style / aesthetic I coined / named lol. Maybe it can just be a "junk drawer" with a bunch of random fun lists and mini pages. That would be fun.

Dreamt of the Mall World Bathroom Again

I recently learned of an Internet phenomenon called "Mall World", a place people across the world have visited in their dreams. I came across a TikTok of a sprawling, dark blue, maze-like bathroom and was stunned because I had dreamt the exact one before. That was a while ago. But last night, I dreamt of the Mall World bathroom again. It was colorful this time, and some of my cousins who I just saw at a family wedding were there, along with Anne Hathaway in her outfit from The Odyssey. Hundreds of toilets in a dark, flickering-fluorescent-lit room, but none usable: urinals, filthy or broken toilets in giant stalls without doors, dozens of conjoined sink-looking receptacles in long rows, fused together with constantly flowing water in each like the top of a water slide. I admit that maybe now that I know about "Mall World", my dreams could be imitating what I've heard - in fact, in the dream I was aware that I was in the Mall World bathroom. But what a strange thing, to share a location in dreams with others.

Fast Forest Fires Are Spreadin' To Ya

The air quality and heat index here are suuuuper bad today like the worst I'vever seen. Apparently there are wildfires in Canada and northern Ohio and that's what's blowing down here. Outside looks like a cloud. Wore two masks to run to my car from the apartment because I don't have a K-95, but I found one at work so I'm covered for later! I keep thinking of "Kangaroo" by Remi Wolf... "Fast forest fires / are spreadin' to ya / call it an itch, been waiting for this / I'm good at plaguing you with / my big ideas"
Going over to our friends' place tonight to watch some bad movies and play video games. We're looking for a new apartment and there's a nice one pretty close to them, which would be really cool. I messaged the property people on Zillow to schedule a tour, here's hopin'! Watching Moth Cub's Crazy Frog video. Pretty good stuff. Happy Friday!

Two Weeks Notice

I put in my two weeks notice at work today! I'm so excited. I was nervous to tell my boss but he was actually really nice about it and said he's happy for me. I'm so excited. My new job is almost twice my current pay and it's exactly what I want to be doing, and in a beautiful location. I seriously can't believe how this all came together. I felt so down all this winter, so stuck, so trapped, it seemed so hopeless. One day in desperation I wrote out a bunch of wishes/prayers/manifestations in a notebook. This new job pretty much checks all the boxes. I can't even believe it. The only drawback is that it's a bit of a drive, but they said once I get trained I can probably work from home the majority of the time! I'm also not sure when I'll be moving to a new city, things are sort of up in the air right now - but I definitely want to spend some time at this job. I'm trying to just take it a day at a time. i know every job has its flaws, but it feels so bright and hopeful to be starting fresh, doing what I've been wanting to do since I graduated college, and getting paid the most I ever have for it! It's unbelievable. I feel so grateful and excited.

Why Purple and Red?

I recently came across an Instagram page that assigned Pantone colors for every astrological sign: sun, moon, and rising. I immediately felt a resonance with mine.

I've always had synesthesia and always thought of myself as a light purple, the same color as the walls in my childhood bedroom. But seeing these red and purple hues laid out together reminded me of something else, too: almost all of my favorite albums are purple and red. I started a playlist a while back called "soul resonance" where I keep songs that feel like me, in a way I can't always describe. As I was compiling the playlist, I found it funny how cohesive the colors of the album covers were. An overwhelming dominance of purple and red. Colors that feel strangely soul-resonant to me, in a way I can't describe.
